CropFit App
This app is designed to assist cotton, corn, peanut, and soybean producers irrigate more efficiently. The app performs the best in the southeastern USA and when precipitation data from close proximity to the field are used.
The app uses estimated daily crop water use and precipitation data to track daily available soil moisture. Users can register multiple fields. The app tracks available soil moisture in all registered fields and sends push notifications when irrigation is recommended or when the crop is approaching a new growth stage.
Irrigation recommendations for Variable Rate Irrigation Systems can be achieved by registering each irrigation zone within a field as a different field.
A sweetcorn model will be available in January 2026.
This video shows how different tools can help farmers decide when and how much to irrigate, making water use more efficient and effective.
It was created by Dr. Brenda Ortiz’s team at Auburn University.
